Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall D
ValueB+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Vikings let Rourke fall and pounced. Final grade: D.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Vikings watched Kurtis Rourke slide 69 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon slipping to slot 37 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick63 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
The board had TreVeyon Henderson higher than Round 2, Pick 31, and the running back fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick97 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
Nothing to complain about; Denzel Burke went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick132 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
Value with a capital V on Anthony Belton in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick144 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
No drama and no debate, Pat Bryant went about where he belonged in pick 144. It fills a real need, too.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
No edge and no loss on Jonah Monheim in pick No. 147; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161 Rnd5 Kalel Mullings
A running back of that caliber at the 161st pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick176 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Emery Jones Jr. in No. 176, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick213 Rnd6 Upton Stout
You do not let a safety like Upton Stout reach No. 213 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick214 Rnd6 Kurtis Rourke
Taking Kurtis Rourke in pick No. 214 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick224 Rnd7 CJ West
CJ West in slot 224 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick229 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Steal is underselling it; Luke Lachey at pick 229 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
