Draft Grade — Rams
Overall

FutureD
The Rams let Johnson fall and pounced. Final grade: D+. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Rams did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Murphy proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Johnson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick23
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In No. 23 they get juice off the edge. A real need, handled.
Pick52
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
No edge and no loss on Braden Fiske in pick 52; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick99
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the 99th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick108
Rnd4
Will Shipley
They paid sticker price for Will Shipley in Round 4, Pick 8, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jarrian Jones in the 154th overall pick, plain and simple. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick166
Rnd5
Grayson Murphy
Grayson Murphy in No. 166 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick196
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
By-the-book stuff, Joe Milton III at pick No. 196 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick209
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 209 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick213
Rnd6
Julian Pearl
A slide stopped in Round 6, Pick 38, with Julian Pearl worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick217
Rnd6
Jordan Magee
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Magee at slot 217, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick254
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
They let Josh Proctor come to them and pounced at the Round 7 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
