You can draft well and still miss the point. The Commanders did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to cornerback, which was the need that mattered most. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Klare falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They will need Spears-Jennings to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
