Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bills kept it disciplined and banked a B. Nobody had Kevin Coleman Jr. this high, and it is not close. The Bills reached 19 spots to get him at pick No. 126. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Stewart at that price is a win they earned. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with linebacker the one that mattered most.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In the 26th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60
Rnd2
Josiah Trotter
Josiah Trotter in the 60th pick is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91
Rnd3
Genesis Smith
A clean, defensible pick in No. 91 with a little surplus value in Genesis Smith. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick126
Rnd4
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. in slot 126 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick166
Rnd5
Terion Stewart
The board had Terion Stewart higher than pick 166, and the running back fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick220
Rnd7
Joey Aguilar
Joey Aguilar at Round 7, Pick 4 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick228
Rnd7
PJ Williams
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on PJ Williams. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
