Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B

FutureB-
The Saints did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. The Saints banked a tidy surplus when Theo Wease lasted to the Round 6 slot, a few spots past his grade. No fireworks, but a solid B.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Bywater to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
JC Latham
JC Latham at pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick46
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 46th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick136
Rnd4
Cam Hart
They read the board right and Cam Hart was the payoff at Round 4, Pick 36. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150
Rnd5
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick170
Rnd5
Ben Bywater
Ben Bywater at No. 170 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick191
Rnd6
Theo Wease
Theo Wease in slot 191 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204
Rnd6
Roger Rosengarten
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Roger Rosengarten. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
