Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Elijah Jones, the No. 193 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 7, Pick 9.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They will need Wright to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Malik Nabers and all.
