Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC
The phones sank the Chiefs this weekend: D+.

The tape said wait; the Chiefs did not. Kendall Milton went at Round 6, Pick 20, a good 50 picks before the board was ready. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Landing Oladapo that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in No. 37. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick51 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
They took Xavier Legette at par in the 51st pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa at Round 2, Pick 32 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick69 Rnd3 Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 70, where Ruke Orhorhoro graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick95 Rnd3 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at slot 95 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick102 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
They talked themselves into Johnny Wilson at Round 4, Pick 2, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick107 Rnd4 Brandon Coleman
Nothing to complain about; Brandon Coleman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at pick No. 110 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Hunter Nourzad
Hunter Nourzad in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick159 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
Nice patience on Kitan Oladapo, who had no business lasting to No. 159. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick173 Rnd5 Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson at pick 173 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick195 Rnd6 Kendall Milton
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kendall Milton this early at the 195th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
