FutureB+
The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the D tells the story. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Cowboys shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Moore reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In No. 6 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick26
Rnd1
Jonah Savaiinaea
In pick 26 they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Emery Jones
Emery Jones at the 38th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Danny Stutsman
They paid sticker price for Danny Stutsman in slot 58, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62
Rnd2
Trevor Etienne
They jumped the gun on Trevor Etienne, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick70
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in pick No. 70 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick90
Rnd3
Jalon Walker
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalon Walker. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick91
Rnd3
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at Round 3, Pick 27 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick122
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at Round 4, Pick 26 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick154
Rnd5
Alfred Collins
The board had cheaper options than Alfred Collins at pick 154, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
