Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall F
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureC-
The Chiefs jumped the board for Eichenberg and paid for it: F.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Tommy Eichenberg in slot 105, a good 41 spots before the room expected him. The board sounded every alarm, and the F is the fallout.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. They banked enough surplus on Nourzad to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Fair-plus on Jordan Morgan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick52 Rnd2 Adisa Isaac
Adisa Isaac in the 52nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick64 Rnd2 Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. in Round 2, Pick 32 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine at pick 83 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick95 Rnd3 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at slot 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick99 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Johnny Wilson this early at No. 99. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at pick No. 105 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
Pick110 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zak Zinter. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick132 Rnd4 Hunter Nourzad
A tidy bit of business in No. 132, where Hunter Nourzad graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick155 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kitan Oladapo in slot 155. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick159 Rnd5 Cornelius Johnson
They paid sticker price for Cornelius Johnson in Round 5, Pick 23, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173 Rnd5 Ryan Flournoy
Ryan Flournoy in pick 173 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick209 Rnd6 Kendall Milton
A real head-scratcher, Kendall Milton in the 209th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
