For all the boxes ticked, the Panthers skipped the loudest one: wide receiver is exactly as bare as it was.

Reaching for Coogan left real value on the table behind him. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Scott. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
