Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Steelers a B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Steelers would have aced it. Chase Bisontis at the 78th overall pick is 49 spots clear of where he belonged. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Bisontis pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, edge rusher and other spots. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In slot 14 they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Trevor Goosby
They liked Trevor Goosby enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 45. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick78 Rnd3 Chase Bisontis
A curious use of the 78th overall pick. Quarterback, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Chase Bisontis did not.
Pick80 Rnd3 Will Lee III
A reasonable price with a little left over, Will Lee III in No. 80. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick99 Rnd3 C.J. Fite
They paid up for C.J. Fite at the 99th pick when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
A wild overpay on Jadarian Price in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick133 Rnd4 Austin Romaine
A premium they did not need to pay, Austin Romaine a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick154 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
A reach on Davison Igbinosun in the 154th pick; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick213 Rnd6 Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia in pick 213 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick214 Rnd6 DeAndre Moore Jr.
The board had cheaper options than DeAndre Moore Jr. at the 214th overall pick, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick217 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bryce Foster in pick No. 217, miles early. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick229 Rnd7 Bear Alexander
Value said wait; Bear Alexander in Round 7, Pick 14 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
