The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Lions reached some 110 spots for Karsen Barnhart, and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Getting McKinstry where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
