When the story of this class is written, it opens with Zakhari Franklin at pick 224, a reach of 34 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

They banked enough surplus on Rakestraw Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. It is not that Rakestraw Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Cardinals had louder needs to answer first.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
