Draft Grade — Rams

Nussmeier is the plan now, and the Rams grade out a D. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Rams did exactly that with Isaiah Jatta in pick 167. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Whatever Garrett Nussmeier becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Thieneman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In pick No. 13 they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick29
Rnd1
Garrett Nussmeier
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick61
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in slot 61 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick69
Rnd3
Drew Shelton
Drew Shelton at Round 3, Pick 5 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick93
Rnd3
Taurean York
Steal is underselling it; Taurean York at the 93rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick106
Rnd4
Jack Endries
Jack Endries in pick 106 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick126
Rnd4
Chase Roberts
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Chase Roberts. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick167
Rnd5
Isaiah Jatta
Value said wait; Isaiah Jatta in the 167th overall pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick205
Rnd6
Dominic Zvada
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dominic Zvada in pick 205, miles early. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick208
Rnd6
Barion Brown
No edge and no loss on Barion Brown in Round 6, Pick 29; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick232
Rnd7
London Humphreys
No drama and no debate, London Humphreys went about where he belonged in slot 232. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick250
Rnd7
Trey Holly
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Holly in pick No. 250. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick256
Rnd7
Ja'Keem Jackson
Ja'Keem Jackson at the Round 7 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
