Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Browns won the night they stopped Moore from sliding. Grade: A-.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Browns came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Moore. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

If Tiernan pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Adding Terence Steele by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Bottom line, with Denzel Boston leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In pick No. 24 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick31 Rnd1 Monroe Freeling
In pick 31 they get a building block for the line, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
A wild overpay on Caleb Tiernan in slot 39, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Pick49 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
By-the-book stuff, Elijah Sarratt at No. 49 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Circle this one: Jake Slaughter at Round 2, Pick 31 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick70 Rnd3 Brian Parker II
They paid sticker price for Brian Parker II in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick95 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley slid further than he should have, and pick No. 95 is lovely value for the safety. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick107 Rnd4 Devin Moore
You do not let a cornerback like Devin Moore reach the 107th overall pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick112 Rnd4 Jaeden Roberts
No edge and no loss on Jaeden Roberts in pick 112; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Chris McClellan
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chris McClellan at No. 139 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens at slot 144 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick147 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
A tidy little value on DeMonte Capehart in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jeff Caldwell
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeff Caldwell. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick248 Rnd7 Caleb Douglas
Caleb Douglas at Round 7, Pick 32 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
