mcastro101 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

Draft Grade — 49ers

The 49ers let Bassa fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. Somebody in the 228th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Jeffrey Bassa, the No. 131 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
McCoy has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick43
Rnd2
T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders in pick No. 43 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick75
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
Circle this one: Tyler Warren at Round 3, Pick 11 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick99
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in pick 99 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick112
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the 112th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138
Rnd5
Luke Kandra
Steal is underselling it; Luke Kandra at No. 138 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick139
Rnd5
Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy is a better player than the 139th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick189
Rnd6
Smael Mondon Jr.
Somehow Smael Mondon Jr. was still sitting there in slot 189, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick228
Rnd7
Jeffrey Bassa
You do not let a linebacker like Jeffrey Bassa reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick232
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the 232nd pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick255
Rnd7
Bru McCoy
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bru McCoy in the 255th overall pick, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
