A franchise passer in Maye headlines a C- weekend for the Patriots.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It lands right in the middle: a C-, no more, no less.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will need Jean-Baptiste to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.

So much rides on Drake Maye that the real verdict is a season or two away.
