FutureA+
The Bears found their guy under center in Daniels: C. Start where it matters. The Bears took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.
They will need Milton to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 9 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
Pick34
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
Nice patience on Troy Fautanu, who had no business lasting to the 34th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick36
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
They liked Braden Fiske enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 36. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick40
Rnd2
Ricky Pearsall
They talked themselves into Ricky Pearsall at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy slid further than he should have, and slot 67 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick111
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in the 111th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick123
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
A reach on Theo Johnson in pick 123; the board had better options right there. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick143
Rnd5
Kendall Milton
A wild overpay on Kendall Milton in the 143rd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick182
Rnd6
Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini in slot 182 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
