The Bears treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 4, Pick 36 on Jaylen Harrell a full 83 spots early. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Mitchell falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
