Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA- FutureB-
The Cowboys did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

Nobody else had Keyron Crawford anywhere near pick 215. The Cowboys did, by 46 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

They will answer for taking safety early while wide receiver, quarterback and other spots went begging. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

However the rest shakes out, McNeil-Warren at that price is a win they earned.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick28 Rnd1 Colton Hood
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49 Rnd2 Brandon Cisse
Brandon Cisse slipping to pick No. 49 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick59 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick 59 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick97 Rnd3 Harold Perkins Jr.
They paid sticker price for Harold Perkins Jr. in the 97th pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick112 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
A want over a need in slot 112: Jalon Kilgore adds a safety while wide receiver, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick150 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
They paid a round early for Aamil Wagner in the 150th pick, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194 Rnd6 Bud Clark
No drama and no debate, Bud Clark went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick215 Rnd6 Keyron Crawford
This one needs a full-page explanation: Keyron Crawford in No. 215, miles early. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick221 Rnd7 Miles Kitselman
The board had Miles Kitselman higher than pick No. 221, and the tight end fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick225 Rnd7 Nick Barrett
Nick Barrett at slot 225 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
