Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers let Richardson fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Decamerion Richardson got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at the 230th overall pick. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Every board in the league had Eguakun lower, and that gap is the story. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Tyler Guyton
In the 31st overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at No. 63 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
Nothing to complain about; Calen Bullock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick124 Rnd4 Javon Foster
They took Javon Foster at par in slot 124, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick132 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Guerendo at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
No drama and no debate, Elijah Jones went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 35. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick176 Rnd6 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the 176th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick211 Rnd6 James Williams
Circle this one: James Williams at pick No. 211 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick230 Rnd7 Decamerion Richardson
You do not let a cornerback like Decamerion Richardson reach the 230th pick and blink. They did not. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick232 Rnd7 Bub Means
They did well to land Bub Means in No. 232, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick251 Rnd7 Kingsley Eguakun
Value said wait; Kingsley Eguakun in slot 251 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
