Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Raiders answered their biggest question with Mendoza. Grade: B-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Raiders spent pick No. 219 on Roman Hemby, a name most had 128 spots down the list. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here. That Ioane pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
A straight-up fair deal on Fernando Mendoza at the 1st pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick36
Rnd2
Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt in the 36th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67
Rnd3
Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane at No. 67 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102
Rnd4
Malik Muhammad
Circle this one: Malik Muhammad at pick No. 102 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick127
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 127. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at pick 134 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick171
Rnd5
Kage Casey
A tidy bit of business in the 171st overall pick, where Kage Casey graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick174
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They paid sticker price for Davison Igbinosun in the 174th pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick182
Rnd6
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol slipping to pick 182 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Pick185
Rnd6
Gunner Stockton
They read the board right and Gunner Stockton was the payoff at pick No. 185. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd7
Roman Hemby
Roman Hemby at Round 7, Pick 3 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
