FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B-. There is reaching, and then there is Marvin Jones Jr. at slot 257. The Packers jumped the board by 78 and dared it to prove them wrong. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hecht.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick52
Rnd2
Lee Hunter
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Lee Hunter. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick95
Rnd3
Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht in the 95th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick120
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
Value said wait; Davison Igbinosun in pick 120 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick131
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: J.C. Davis for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Pick158
Rnd5
Kage Casey
A tidy bit of business in No. 158, where Kage Casey graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick199
Rnd6
Dallen Bentley
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dallen Bentley at pick No. 199. It fills a real need, too.
Pick210
Rnd6
Cole Payton
Cole Payton in Round 6, Pick 31 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick236
Rnd7
Andre Fuller
Andre Fuller at pick No. 236 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick254
Rnd7
Logan Taylor
They went early on Logan Taylor in pick 254, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick257
Rnd7
Marvin Jones Jr.
They reached into another round for Marvin Jones Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
