Larceny in slot 245 lands the Commanders a B, Woodson and all. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Craig Woodson, the No. 216 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 245.
The cost of the Baron reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In pick 29 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Trey Amos slid further than he should have, and the 63rd pick is lovely value for the cornerback. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron at Round 4, Pick 26 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133
Rnd4
Brashard Smith
Brashard Smith at No. 133 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick205
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245
Rnd7
Craig Woodson
Circle this one: Craig Woodson at slot 245 is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
