Best value of the weekend goes to the Commanders for Stout: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Upton Stout had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 29, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. If Hairston pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Princely Umanmielen
In slot 29 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value.
Pick61
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
A reach on Maxwell Hairston in Round 2, Pick 29; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick128
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to No. 128, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick205
Rnd6
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick245
Rnd7
Upton Stout
Upton Stout in pick No. 245 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
