Draft Grade — Bills

FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bills and Jackson: A-. You build a draft on nights like this. Donovan Jackson had no business being available in the 177th pick, and the Bills did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Asante Samuel Jr. deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Tetairoa McMillan and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 30 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Taking Xavier Watts in Round 2, Pick 30 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
They paid sticker price for Jordan Phillips in No. 109, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
They read the board right and Denzel Burke was the payoff at the 132nd pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick169
Rnd5
Cody Simon
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Cody Simon in the 169th overall pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick170
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 170 with a little surplus value in RJ Harvey. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick173
Rnd5
Terrance Ferguson
They will replay Terrance Ferguson at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick177
Rnd6
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick 177 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at Round 6, Pick 30 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
