The Kimani Vidal selection is the head-turner. The Chargers reached 28 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. Adding Samson Ebukam by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

They banked enough surplus on Barner to cover a lot of smaller sins.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
