Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB+
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D. The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Zinter has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Landing Hart that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick12
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid sticker price for Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 46, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Nothing to complain about; Brenden Rice went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick79
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A premium they did not need to pay, Zak Zinter a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in the 109th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick110
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
They went early on Darius Robinson in pick 110, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in pick No. 122 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick146
Rnd5
Cam Hart
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cam Hart in pick No. 146. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149
Rnd5
Braelon Allen
They took Braelon Allen at par in pick 149, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick235
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
A slide stopped in the 235th overall pick, with Steele Chambers worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
