FutureB-
Burke should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Denzel Burke, pick 161, roughly 47 picks past where he belonged. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach pick 39 and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick79
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
No edge and no loss on Ozzy Trapilo in slot 79; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick125
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Taking Cam Skattebo in the 125th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161
Rnd5
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in the 161st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick176
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at No. 176 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick183
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at Round 6, Pick 7 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick236
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at pick No. 236 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
