Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The 49ers never addressed wide receiver, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will need Bisontis to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Joshua Josephs
In the 27th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. A real need, handled.
Pick58 Rnd2 Connor Lew
Connor Lew at pick No. 58 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92 Rnd3 Chase Bisontis
A reach for Chase Bisontis in the 92nd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
A slide stopped in pick 127, with Jalon Kilgore worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick133 Rnd4 Kage Casey
A conviction pick on Kage Casey at No. 133 that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick138 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick171 Rnd5 Sam Roush
Sam Roush at Round 5, Pick 33 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
