Judkins should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Quinshon Judkins, the No. 25 name on the board, stolen at pick 67. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Will Johnson
Will Johnson at the 3rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick56
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Circle this one: Colston Loveland at the 56th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick58
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris slipping to slot 58 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 67 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
