FutureC
Best value of the weekend goes to the Saints for Harden: B. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Myles Harden, the No. 209 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 19. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In the 16th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45
Rnd2
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson in pick No. 45 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick81
Rnd3
Junior Colson
Steal is underselling it; Junior Colson at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick88
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in Round 3, Pick 25 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick102
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
A conviction pick on Matt Goncalves at slot 102 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick126
Rnd4
Chau Smith-Wade
No drama and no debate, Chau Smith-Wade went about where he belonged in pick 126. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick150
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith slipping to No. 150 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick168
Rnd5
Braiden McGregor
They paid sticker price for Braiden McGregor in the 168th pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick170
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at No. 170 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick175
Rnd5
Dillon Johnson
Dillon Johnson at the 175th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick190
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
They jumped the gun on Joe Milton III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick199
Rnd6
Trente Jones
Trente Jones in pick No. 199 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick239
Rnd7
Myles Harden
They robbed the room for Myles Harden here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
