Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Bullard from sliding. Grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Javon Bullard, the No. 42 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 3, Pick 20. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Milton III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In slot 20 they get an anchor for the offensive line, reach and all. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51 Rnd2 Roman Wilson
A clean, defensible pick in the 51st overall pick with a little surplus value in Roman Wilson. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in pick No. 84 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick98 Rnd3 Cedric Gray
They paid up for Cedric Gray at No. 98 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick119 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
No edge and no loss on Tyler Davis in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick178 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joe Milton III in the 178th pick, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick195 Rnd6 Ro Torrence
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 20 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
