Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders answered their biggest question with Mendoza. Grade: B.

Somebody in pick No. 174 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Kayden McDonald, the No. 27 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the 1st pick they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
They paid sticker price for Elijah Sarratt in No. 36, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Mansoor Delane
Mansoor Delane at pick 67 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick102 Rnd4 David Bailey
David Bailey at pick No. 102 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick117 Rnd4 Spencer Fano
They robbed the room for Spencer Fano here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134 Rnd4 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in No. 134 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick174 Rnd5 Kayden McDonald
Circle this one: Kayden McDonald at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick182 Rnd6 Dillon Thieneman
They barely believed it either: Dillon Thieneman still on the board at slot 182. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jake Slaughter
They will replay Jake Slaughter at the 185th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick219 Rnd7 Genesis Smith
Genesis Smith at Round 7, Pick 3 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
