4D9RZ DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the 49ers. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The 49ers spent No. 251 on Jawhar Jordan, a name the board had a full 28 spots lower. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Sainristil pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Tyler Guyton
In the 31st pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy is a better player than No. 63 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick94
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
They robbed the room for Mike Sainristil here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick124
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
They took Ben Sinnott at par in pick No. 124, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick131
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in the 131st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick133
Rnd4
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at Round 4, Pick 33 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176
Rnd6
Jordan Travis
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Travis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick211
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Value with a capital V on Curtis Jacobs in No. 211, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick215
Rnd6
Tatum Bethune
They paid up for Tatum Bethune at Round 6, Pick 40 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick251
Rnd7
Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan at the 251st overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
