The 49ers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took VJ Payne at Round 4, Pick 38 regardless, 63 picks early.

Roush falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

If Max Iheanachor and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
