Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesC+ FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers.

There is reaching, and then there is Delmar Glaze at Round 5, Pick 10. The 49ers jumped the board by 37 and dared it to prove them wrong. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. They banked enough surplus on Jacobs to cover a lot of smaller sins. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In pick 31 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
A reach on Cooper Beebe in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94 Rnd3 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at slot 94 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick98 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
No edge and no loss on Zak Zinter in Round 3, Pick 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick125 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
They let Sataoa Laumea come to them and pounced at the 125th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick146 Rnd5 Delmar Glaze
They reached a country mile for Delmar Glaze at pick No. 146, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick176 Rnd6 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at No. 176 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick209 Rnd6 Tahj Washington
Tahj Washington at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick215 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Taking Curtis Jacobs in the 215th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick249 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trevin Wallace at pick No. 249 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
