Bullard should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the 49ers were there to profit. Javon Bullard, the No. 63 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 98. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. They will need McCaffrey to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.

They paid up for Luke McCaffrey at the 132nd pick when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

Frank Gore Jr. at slot 176 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
