Grand theft in No. 251: the 49ers steal Brooks and grade out a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the 49ers were there to profit. Tahj Brooks, the No. 199 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot.

Every board in the league had Vann lower, and that gap is the story. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

In pick No. 31 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. A real need, handled.
