There is conviction, and then there is this. The 49ers took Sean Martin a full 151 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

Grant falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

With quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
