Naorozco DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the 49ers, and a B- to prove it. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: David Walker, 96 picks early at pick 75.
They banked enough surplus on Skattebo to cover a lot of smaller sins. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a disruptive interior force, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
A reach on Marcus Mbow in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick75
Rnd3
David Walker
They reached into another round for David Walker, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick99
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at the 99th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
A tidy little value on Jared Wilson in slot 111, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jackson Slater
They jumped the gun on Jackson Slater, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick185
Rnd6
Cam Skattebo
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick226
Rnd7
Maxen Hook
A conviction pick on Maxen Hook at pick No. 226 that the board grades a round light. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick230
Rnd7
Cody Lindenberg
They took Cody Lindenberg at par in pick 230, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick249
Rnd7
Moliki Matavao
A reasonable price with a little left over, Moliki Matavao in slot 249. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick255
Rnd7
Robbie Ouzts
They paid sticker price for Robbie Ouzts in No. 255, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
