Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-

A solid, sensible weekend for the 49ers: B-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Oluwafemi Oladejo in Round 3, Pick 36, a good 40 spots before the room expected him.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a blindside protector. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in slot 43 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Charles Grant
They paid up for Charles Grant at the Round 3 slot when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick100 Rnd3 Oluwafemi Oladejo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Oluwafemi Oladejo well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jaylin Lane
Jaylin Lane at the 113th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in pick No. 138 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick147 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
By-the-book stuff, O'Donnell Fortune at pick No. 147 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick160 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
A straight-up fair deal on Seth McLaughlin at slot 160, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson in Round 7, Pick 11 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249 Rnd7 Nick Martin
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nick Martin. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick252 Rnd7 Marcus Yarns
They took Marcus Yarns at par in No. 252, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
