Lazymm DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
Lambert-Smith should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B-. You could see the war room lean forward. KeAndre Lambert-Smith at pick 232 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Ouzts reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
They paid a round early for Walter Nolen in the 11th pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick43
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. in Round 2, Pick 11 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick99
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman slid further than he should have, and the 99th overall pick is lovely value for the linebacker. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick112
Rnd4
Charles Grant
Somehow Charles Grant was still sitting there in slot 112, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138
Rnd4
O'Donnell Fortune
A tidy bit of business in pick 138, where O'Donnell Fortune graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick139
Rnd4
Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson in pick No. 139 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick148
Rnd5
Nick Nash
A tidy little value on Nick Nash in No. 148, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick189
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
They will replay DJ Giddens at the 189th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick228
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
No edge and no loss on Zeek Biggers in Round 7, Pick 10; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick232
Rnd7
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith at the 232nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick255
Rnd7
Robbie Ouzts
Robbie Ouzts in slot 255 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
