Draft Grade — 49ers

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the 49ers: B-. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Marcus Harris in slot 252, a good 70 spots before the room expected him. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Monangai pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In slot 11 they get a blindside protector at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in the 43rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor at the 75th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick100
Rnd3
David Walker
David Walker in pick 100 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113
Rnd4
Rylie Mills
They talked themselves into Rylie Mills at No. 113, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick138
Rnd4
O'Donnell Fortune
The board had cheaper options than O'Donnell Fortune at Round 4, Pick 36, and it noticed. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick147
Rnd5
Barryn Sorrell
Value said wait; Barryn Sorrell in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick160
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Vernon Broughton well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
A quiet steal in pick 227: Kyle Monangai for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249
Rnd7
Nick Martin
Nick Martin in the 249th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick252
Rnd7
Marcus Harris
Marcus Harris at Round 7, Pick 36 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
