Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D-
ValueA+ NeedB TradesF FutureD-
Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Fairchild: D-.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Dylan Fairchild fell into the 226th pick.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In pick 11 they get an island corner, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick43 Rnd2 Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty at Round 2, Pick 11 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick45 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
They will replay Walter Nolen at slot 45 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Nick Emmanwori
They barely believed it either: Nick Emmanwori still on the board at No. 75. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick99 Rnd3 Wyatt Milum
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 99th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 Derrick Harmon
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Derrick Harmon in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jalon Walker
They robbed the room for Jalon Walker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick138 Rnd5 Harold Fannin Jr.
Taking Harold Fannin Jr. in pick No. 138 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick185 Rnd6 Tre Harris
The board fumbled Tre Harris all the way to pick 185, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick226 Rnd7 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in the 226th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick230 Rnd7 Logan Brown
Logan Brown at the 230th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick249 Rnd7 Jake Majors
Jake Majors in slot 249 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
