Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The 49ers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Bryce Foster, 50 picks early at the Round 4 slot.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Denzel Burke
In slot 31 they get an island corner, outstanding value to boot.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in pick 36 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick63 Rnd2 Ajani Cornelius
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ajani Cornelius in the Round 2 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick68 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Rod Moore at the 68th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick95 Rnd3 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at Round 3, Pick 31 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127 Rnd4 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at pick No. 127 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick159 Rnd5 Jason Henderson
Jason Henderson in the 159th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick191 Rnd6 Theo Wease Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Wease Jr.. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223 Rnd7 Malik Spencer
Value said wait; Malik Spencer in No. 223 says they were not listening. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
