Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the 49ers: B-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The 49ers spent No. 99 on Tyler Batty, a name the board had a full 124 spots lower. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

On value alone, Burke makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In pick No. 11 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Grey Zabel
A quiet steal in slot 43: Grey Zabel for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Alfred Collins reach Round 3, Pick 11 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99 Rnd3 Tyler Batty
Tyler Batty in the 99th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick112 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo slid further than he should have, and pick 112 is lovely value for the running back. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
Circle this one: Denzel Burke at the 138th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick139 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel at the 139th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick148 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
Steal is underselling it; Lathan Ransom at No. 148 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick189 Rnd6 Nick Nash
Nick Nash at slot 189 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick228 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
No drama and no debate, Zeek Biggers went about where he belonged in pick No. 228. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232 Rnd7 Caden Prieskorn
This one needs a full-page explanation: Caden Prieskorn in the 232nd pick, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick255 Rnd7 Francisco Mauigoa
They talked themselves into Francisco Mauigoa at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
