The phones were a trap the 49ers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher still on the board. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the McCaffrey reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
