FutureA-
Larceny in slot 251 lands the 49ers a B, McGlothern and all. The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Dwight McGlothern fell into pick 251. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They are betting Harrell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick63
Rnd2
Ruke Orhorhoro
They paid sticker price for Ruke Orhorhoro in No. 63, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick66
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
The board had cheaper options than Sedrick Van Pran at pick 66, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100
Rnd3
Javon Foster
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Javon Foster well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick124
Rnd4
DJ James
DJ James in the 124th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick131
Rnd4
Khristian Boyd
Value said wait; Khristian Boyd in Round 4, Pick 31 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick133
Rnd4
Jaylen Harrell
They reached a country mile for Jaylen Harrell at pick No. 133, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick176
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
A big swing on Gabe Hall at slot 176, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick248
Rnd7
Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus at the 248th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick251
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
Circle this one: Dwight McGlothern at Round 7, Pick 31 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
