Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureA
The Cowboys got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Kedon Slovis, 89 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Spending an early pick on edge rusher with tight end open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In the 15th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick23
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In slot 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Need was not the driver here.
Pick24
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In No. 24 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick56
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
They paid sticker price for Xavier Worthy in pick 56, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick64
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
No drama and no debate, Patrick Paul went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick87
Rnd3
Trey Benson
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick93
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Gabriel Murphy at edge rusher with tight end open.
Pick95
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Khyree Jackson at the 95th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
A reach for Beaux Limmer in Round 4, Pick 14; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116
Rnd4
Ainias Smith
They reached into another round for Ainias Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joe Milton III this early at the 153rd overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
Value said wait; Jaylan Ford in No. 174 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick212
Rnd6
Miyan Williams
A big swing on Miyan Williams at pick 212, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick216
Rnd6
Kedon Slovis
A wild overpay on Kedon Slovis in No. 216, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
